Q How are the racks mounted?A. All racks come with mounting hardware. The Racor racks have two sets of hardware one for mounting into a stud and one for hollow wall mounting (for lighter equipment). ProStor racks have screws for mounting into studs.
Q I can't find a stud what do I do?A. Typical household construction has studs spaced on 16" centers. Some builders space the studs on 20" or even 24" centers on interior non-load baring walls. If you are having a hard time finding any studs electrical switches or outlets are usually attached to a stud. Electricians usually mount electrical, telephone or switch boxes on the right side of the stud. Try measuring 15 1/2" from the left edge of the outlet or switch first, then run a very small pilot hole through the wall in an inconspicuous place (near the baseboard etc..) If that doesn't work, keep trying first 23" from the left of the switch then 19". Other signs of a stud are nail pops in the wall, or seams on bad drywall jobs.
Q What is the mounting hole spacing?A. 16" centers on most racks. Others like the PS-1, PRS, HFB's, Solo, PSM, PPT, PGR, and PSB mount to a single stud.
Q What if the studs are too far apart and the equipment is heavy?A. Find two studs and run a board between them. Use a board at least 3/4" thick and 3 1/2" wide. Bolt the rack to the board.
Q Can I mount the racks into cement or cinder blocks?A. Yes. But you will need to get 1/4" Tapcon Screws (Blue Screws) from the hardware store. You will also need to purchase a 3/16" masonry drill bit to pre-drill the hole.
Q My in-line skate rack doesn't look the same as the picture on the box!
A. You have a new design. The instructions show how the skates hang from the new brackets.
Q Can I hang a female style bike on any of the bike racks?A. All Racor and ProStor racks can hold female bikes.
Q How do I hang a female style bike on the bike rack I just bought?A. The HFB's, PHB, PSB's that hold the bike horizontally are held by putting the hook behind the seat tube and under the seat stay, (the V behind the seat). The other hook goes under the down tube, (the tube from the handlebars down to the crank).
